MY SERVICES
Sophia Hammoudeh-Mekki MBACP | Integrative Counsellor
How I Work
As an integrative Humanistic Counsellor, I like to think my clients come to me for support and guidance in a warm, authentic and safe place. I work in different therapeutic models depending on what I feel fits or suits my client’s needs at the given time.
It is crucial to develop the all-important rapport in the therapeutic relationship; which is why I offer a free no obligation initial consultation. If the potential client is feeling comfortable enough to take it a step further and commence with therapy, then, welcome to Stay Rooted Counselling.
I offer a free, no obligation initial consultation.
I also offer online counselling. Please enquire for details.

Therapy
Therapy is a one-to-one relationship that builds upon a journey of uncovering hidden truths and emotions that you may feel difficult to share with others. There may be some difficulties or hidden traumas effecting your general well-being and you just don’t know what it is that’s making you feel that way.
You may find yourself struggling with who you really are. Wondering what lies beneath the appearance you present to the world. Using therapy to unveil the level of consciousness, hidden assumptions and body states that can at times form the real message that words both express and conceal. Using compassion to recognise these unconscious feelings that may be running our lives, and in turn, learn to liberate ourselves from them.
Responsibility is about learning to respond in the present moment, the ability to respond. To say we are wounded or stuck in any way is simply a way of saying I am a victim; and I can’t try and deal to respond in any way to what happened to me. What happens to that energy? It goes in.

There is nothing wrong with recognising one’s woundedness - it is crucial to do so if you want to help yourself and others.
Look at those stories that you are telling yourself, drill down to those beliefs; wonder where they came from; the memory you have of them; and find yourself looking into a way of managing that pain by letting go of the hold it may have on you. Emotions that can be hard to bear at times. You may find yourself getting triggered.
Pain can come up in therapy, it may not deliberately want to cause you pain, but you don’t want to be numb, instead, you want to feel your pain, because its already there.
Stories we tell ourselves are the basic cause of emotional, mental or physical illness. All have unrecognised emotions or underpinnings that can mostly be rooted strongly in a person’s childhood.
This approach of drilling into what is real inside you. Your truth.
Let me guide you and be with you on this journey.
I look forward to hearing from you.
